A few weeks ago a server at a Red Lobster in Tennessee received a racist remark on her receipt instead of a tip.
Outraged college student, Toni Jenkins, posted a photo of the receipt on her social media page. It wasn’t long before the photo went viral.
A concerned citizen out of California started the “Tips for Toni” campaign on the free fundraising site YouCaring.com. A couple of weeks later Toni got a check for $10,719.
She was ultimately suspended from her job for breaking company policy when she posted the picture but she says it was worth it. Toni paid back student loans and bought a reliable car. She feels blessed that people who don’t even know her were willing to help her.
What was a devastating experience for Toni turned into one she could take all the way to the bank.
