Operation Iraqi Freedom

By, Samantha Stambaugh – Shippensburg, PA

On November 7th at 3:30 p.m. in the Grove Hall Forum, three members of Shippensburg University will present their work to help educators in Iraq.

Dr. John Kooti, dean of Grove College of Business; Dr. Melodye Wehrung, executive director of social equity; and Dr. Sarah Bryant, professor of finance, will run the program.

These three made their first trip to Baghdad in 2012 to help improve finance and banking in Iraq. The U.S. Agency for International Development funded the project by a $499,436 grant.

“From War to Rebuilding: Ship’s Efforts Furthering Business Education in Iraq” will be about the three’s experiences working in Baghdad with the goal to promote business education by assisting with the accreditation process and establishing a center for teaching Management and Economics.
