SHIPPENSBURG – The Shippensburg University Women’s Center is taking a stand against domestic violence and showing their support with the “No More” photo contest. The contest encourages students to use social media in pledging to end domestic violence. Those taking the pledge promise to not commit or tolerate any form of domestic violence as bystanders.
“If we get a large amount (of photos) then we will turn our website more into a gallery option because it’s really about winning and showing your support,” said Sam Frushor, Campus Activities and Program Advisor. “The real prize is when a victim or someone who knows a victim is looking for resources and they go to our No More page and see that there are so many community members and diverse members from athletics, students and staff that are holding these signs saying that we support you.”
Students can show their support by picking up a “No More” sign outside room 230 in the Cedia Union Building or in Horton Hall. Students can submit their photos by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or upload them on Twitter and tag @suwomencenter.
The photo contest runs until October 31.
