SHIPPENSBURG- The Modern Language Department will hold a dinner to raise funds for a learning project in Haiti this winter. Students participating in the Gros Mangles Project will travel to Haiti over winter break for a 6-credit seminar to learn the history and language of the country.
During the student’s first trip in January 2013, they built a playground for a school and a year later students and faculty added an additional 4,000 square feet. Spanish and French Professor, Dr. Agnes Ragone, explains what they are working on next, “we have adopted a village and at this point we finished the playground in Haiti and we are working on the dispensary so we hope that the fundraiser is going to help us cover the cost of the dispensary”.
After the dinner, a mini-documentary created by SUTV alum, Ally Hill, will be shown giving an inside look into the lives of the Haitian people.
The dinner is open to the public and begins at 6:15 p.m in Rowland Hall 200. The dinner costs $5 for student and $10 dollars for the public.
All proceeds benefit Project Gros Mangles
