The man who discovered “The Butler” Comes to Shippensburg

Journalist who made Eugene Allen famous

SHIPPENSBURG – Will Haygood wasn’t looking for a story worthy of a movie when he met Eugene Allen, the butler who worked for eight different presidents, but that is exactly what he found. His article prompted the making of the now famous movie, The Butler.

The Washington Post journalist captivated a Shippensburg audience in his Thursday, February 26 lecture at Luhr’s Performing Arts Center. Before his evening lecture, he spent some time in a more intimate setting with a group of students. I was one of those students.
