SHIPPENSBURG- The Shippensburg University Men’s Basketball team kept it close in Tuesday nights divisional matchup vs. West Chester. The Golden Rams pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 83-68 win over Shippensburg at Heiges Field house.
Both teams were on fire in the first half Shooting over 52 percent from the field. The raiders were lead by junior guard Abe Massaley with 31 points on the night. A career-high for Massaley, he shot 9-16 from the field and 11-13 at the free throw line.
The two teams combined to make 15 three pointers in the first half. Shooting over 50 percent from beyond the arc. Westchester went into the half with a commanding 54-44 lead.
The second half was a different story for both teams as they struggled to put points on the board. Shooting under 32 percent. The raiders defense held the rams to just 29 points in the second half lowest half for them this season. The raider’s senior Jay Hardy stepped up with a free throw to cut Westchester’s lead to just six with 5: 35 left to go in the Game.
The Rams were not going to let Shippensburg tarnish their perfect record ending the game on a 13-4 run extending their win streak to six.
The loss drops Shippensburg to (4-3) on the season (1-3) in the PSAC. The Raiders next-games is at home this Friday (12/4) at 7:30 PM against IUP.
