Ashon Rolle, a senior at Shippensburg University, is just an average student in the States, but at home Ashon is known as the starting left back for the Bahama national soccer club. Ashon played in the World Cup in 2010 and will play against Bermuda in 2016. The process to join the team is difficult, but Ashon was able to still make the cut. “Our coaches try and have us stay loose,” Ashon says.
Ashon plans to play in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He feels that this time it will look like a new team on the field. “If you think about it we were young and inexperienced,” Ashon said. “This time we’re older, we’ve been there before so I feel we can [keep up with big named countries]. In the mean time Ashon will be playing Bermuda in 2016 to stay competitive against some of the top talent in the world.
