Do not make alcohol the focus of the party.
Plan activities and give your guests reason to anticipate real excitement and entertainment other than just consuming alcohol.
Be sure to serve plenty of food. Foods rich in starches and proteins stay in the stomach longer and help to slow the absorption of alcohol.
Stop serving alcohol at least one hour before the end of the party.
Establish a plan to make sure your guests get home safely. Have designated drivers, call a taxi, or even have your guests spend the night.
Be a friend and stop serving alcohol to visitors when they have had too much to drink. You’ll earn the respect of many of your guests if you’re a responsible host and take the steps to ensure their safety.
