Ship students compete to save energy
SHIPPENSBURG—Shippensburg University’s just one of nine schools in a PASSHE-wide energy reduction contest. The contest takes place until April 10th. Contests like these typically result in five percent energy reductions.
If you live on campus, it’s easy to participate. Shut off lights and computers when you’re not using them. Unplug AC adapters when you’re not charging your devices. Try exercising outdoors and walking the stairs. Keep your windows and doors closed if your heating and cooling systems are on. Adjust your thermostat to the weather outside and avoid portable electric heaters.
The contest measures daily energy reading against baseline measures to determine which campus has the largest energy reduction. Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Lock Haven, Millersville, Slippery Rock, and West Chester are also participating.
