CARLISLE– Mark McCullough never thought his life would be overcome by addiction. He started in high school and would smoke Marijuana and drink alcohol heavily. His addiction became more serious when he was jumped at a party and had to have reconstructive facial surgery. The doctor prescribed pain killers and he was hooked.
He ran into some legal trouble and was put on house arrest and that led to the start of his heroin use. Unfortunately 2 days after Mark got off of house arrest he overdosed and was revived by Narcan the overdose drug. After his overdose Mark received treatment and has been clean ever since.
Today, Mark is a recovery specialist for the Rase Project in Carlisle, an advocacy center for anyone seeking help from addiction. He says that getting treatment may be tough but will make life easier in the end.
