SHIPPENSBURG—Football sophomore Richard Nase has been selected to at least four different preseason All-America lists.
The Sporting News named Nase a candidate for NCAA Division II Defensive Linemen earlier this summer. Lindy’s Sports voted him All-America First Team, while D2Football.com placed him on All-America Second Team. Hero Sports also named him to its preseason All-America squad.
“People noticed how well I performed last year, it means that there’s high expectations out there for me and I realize that and I’m ready to step up to the challenge and meet those expectations and surprise a lot of people.”
Nase turned heads last season by breaking Jake Metz’s school record for sacks…recording 12 in 11 games. He led the Red Raiders with 16.5 tackles for loss and is one of the nine returning defensive starters.
The grind hasn’t stopped since camp and the team is ready to get back on Seth Grove’s turf.
“It’s a very strong defense, that wolf pack mentality…once you buy into that, you really see how good a defense can be. We’re working hard…I think our defense is really gonna show up come game time.”
The Red Raiders kick off their season this Saturday at American International.
