Shippensburg faculty are prepared to strike after failed contract negotiations.
Shippensburg- After faculty negotiators left a fourth consecutive day of bargaining a strike date has been set for October 19th. The faculty do not want to strike, but will if the state system fails to negotiate a fair contract.
Dr. Kenneth M. Mash, president of APSCUF, believes the state system doesn’t care if a solution is met any time soon.
“Our negotiations team is convinced that the State System leadership wants a strike,”said Mash. “What else could possibly explain the fact that they would continue to put on the table proposals that my members will find incendiary? They just do not seem to care if they diminish our universities and if our students suffer.”
The announcement was made through Facebook live this morning. APSCUF has posted a press release today giving the details on what the state system could attempt to do if a strike were to take place.
