HERSHEY, PA– Thousands of people crowded into the Giant Center in Hershey to get a glimpse of Vice President-Elect Mike Pence and President-Elect Donald Trump. There was high energy in the crowd, with many people wearing hats or holding signs with Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
Vice President-Elect Pence came out and said that their goal in this stop was to simply thank everyone for electing Donald Trump president.
President-Elect Donald Trump entered the platform, waving to everyone, then greeting the crowd by saying, “Merry Christmas!” He began talking about election night, and what it was like to win Pennsylvania. This was the first time since 1988 that Pennsylvania elected a Republican president. Pennsylvania was not a state he was expected to win on election night.
“Everybody thought for years and years they were going to win Pennsylvania as a Republican. They call it ‘The bride that got away.’ This is such an important state and they were saying, ‘He won’t win it. He’s down in the polls.'”
He continued to explain his military goals for the next four years.
“As part of our commitment to those who serve, we are going to re-build our badly depleted military and we are going to finally take care of our great veterans.”
President-Elect Trump says that his defense policy is simple, but will be effective, “Our defense policy can be summed up in three very important words: peace through strength.”
He reiterated that his main focus is on creating jobs and goods in America.
“Whether it’s building cars, producing steel, or curing disease, we want the next generation of innovation to happen right here in America and right here in the great state of Pennsylvania.”
The “Thank You” rally continues tonight in Florida, and tomorrow in Alabama.
