Board of Governors Votes on New Interim President
HARRISBURG– Today the Board of Governors voted Dr. Barbara Lyman as the Interim President of Shippensburg University. Dr. Lyman was named the “acting” president following President Jody Harpster’s retirement on January 20.
Dr. Lyman has been the second in Command at Shippensburg since 2008 and she has held leadership roles at three other public universities. Her previous experience is in academic program development, faculty affairs and student success initiatives, as well as strategic planning, budgeting and assessment.
State System Chancellor Frank T. Brogan says, “Dr. Lyman has demonstrated her leadership abilities throughout her career. Her familiarity with Shippensburg University and the vital role it plays in the region and the Commonwealth–and within the State System–also will be invaluable in the role of interim president.”
