Spring semester equals rush season for the Greeks!
By: Amanda Trievel
SHIPPENSBURG- After one semester first year students can officially rush a sorority or fraternity. 12 credits are required for Shippensburg students to rush. Dean Bob, the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Ship is very excited for official rush. The Fall rushes are smaller in size since only sophomores and up can rush. Which is why Spring semester for Ship is considered official rush.
The Panhellenic Council and Internfraternity council (IFC) are both the two umbrellas that overlook the Greek system.
Each sorority and fraternity have events currently going on to try and recruit new members. Each organization has certain requirements such as a certain GPA.
Last year about 9 percent of Ship students were Greek. For the sorority rushes last year about 100 came out to rush this year 130 came to rush. Bid day is around the corner for all the sororities and it’s not too late to still come out to events! All events are posted on each chapters social media.
