SHIPPENSBURG- Shippensburg Men’s Basketball team improves to 20 wins on the season with an 88-72 victory over Lock Haven on Wednesday.
The Raiders had Lock Haven against the ropes early when they raced out to a 21-4 lead. Lock Haven responded with an 18-5 run of their own to bring the score within four points. The Raiders recovered and took a 45-35 lead into halftime.
Shippensburg lit up the scoreboard in the second half, as they shot 50 percent from the field. Dustin Sleva put on a clinic against the Bald Eagle defense scoring 24 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Sleva has scored at least 15 points in every game of the Raiders’ season.
Justin McCarthur also scored 24 points on Lock Haven. A majority of those points came from behind the arc, as McCarthur shot 4-of-7 from three-point range.
Lock Haven had a tough night offensively against the Raiders. The Bald Eagles shot just 42.3 percent from the floor. The only bright spot that came from Lock Haven offensively was Amir Hinton, who scored 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting.
This is the fourth time in Shippensburg Men’s Basketball history to win at least 20 games in a season and the first time in school history where they had two back-to-back 20 win seasons.
The Raiders host the Mansfield Mounties on Saturday, 3 p.m. at Heiges Field House.
