SHIPPENSBURG, PA- McLean Hall and Stone Ridge Commons thinks out of the box to spread knowledge of different religion. The Cultural Connection, a program that highlights and celebrates the diverse culture shared in our student population, chose the Resident Assistants (RA) and Resident Directors (RD) of McLean Hall and Stone Ridge Commons to discuss about religion. The RAs and RDs of McLean Hall and Stone Ridge Commons will be holding a program, but not of one discussing the foundations rather than the misconceptions of one’s religion. The program is called Misconception Buster and it’s held on Monday March 20 in the McFeely Café from 7pm to 9pm.
The RAs and RDs wanted to zero in on common misconception believed by society and displayed by the media. “We hope to educate the Ship community, decrease discrimination, and “Spread the Truth” campus wide,” Bernadette Schneider an RA for McLean Hall stated this when asked what the programs end goal is. The program will showcase different religions such as Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Scientology, Satanism, Atheism, and Agnosticism. Bernadette Schneider says, “We want to shine a light on discrimination and prejudice to show that most of what people think, isn’t even true.”
The program Misconception Busters will have tons of food such as corn dogs, chicken fingers, fries, and walking tacos. They also will be having giveaways, raffle baskets and gift card giveaways. Misconception Busters will be held in McFeely Café 7pm to 9pm on Monday March 20.
