SHIPPENSBURG- Raiders senior Tra-C Davis was named PSAC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Davis earned the honor by setting the school indoor high jump record during the John Covert Classic at Lehigh University on Saturday. Davis cleared seven feet, one inch. This beat the previous record by a half an inch.
Davis’s record-breaking jump also earned him an NCAA automatic qualifier bid.
“It was a surreal experience,” Davis said about the automatic qualifier. “It’s something I dreamed about for so long (jumping seven feet) and to jump an inch above seven feet was a blessing.”
Tra-C Davis currently owns the top mark in the high jump among all NCAA Division II indoor athletes.
Davis and half of the Shippensburg Indoor Track & Field squad will compete this Friday for the National Mid-Major Invitational at Youngstown State University, while the other half competes at the Susquehanna University Invitational.
