Staying Healthy in the New Year

It’s that time of year again, where people are either sticking to their new year’s resolutions or breaking them completely.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle while at college can be difficult, but I sat down with the nursing supervisor Amy Gebhart to get some tips.

She suggests:

  • making sure you eat healthy choices
  • getting plenty of physical activity
  • be sure you’re resting
  • finding a way to manage stress

A healthy life is not only about working out, but feeding your body the nutrients it needs. Stay away from foods and drinks high in sugar, carbs, and empty calories. Instead, drink plenty of water and eat greens.

The flu is in full force this year, so use the three “c’s” to ensure you stay healthy. Be sure to cover your cough, clean your hands, and conceal yourself if you are sick.

Every student can follow these helpful hints and lead yourself to a healthier lifestyle.
