SHIPPENSBURG – The Teaching Kitchen is a new part of Shippensburg University’s dining hall experience. Ships dining services has implemented a fun and exciting way to learn how to make healthy food options. Once a month there will be an interactive demonstration held in either Reisner or Kriner dining halls.
This month’s focused food was fish tacos. The chef sets up a demonstration table with all needed ingredients which invites up to 12 people to participate. The ingredients are measured out prior to the fun for easy cooking. Students begin by putting on plastic aprons and gloves for food safety. They then follow the chef’s step-by-step directions to prepare their dish, but it is encouraged to make any alterations to fit any particular taste.
After a quick 15 minutes, the fish tacos are complete and students can enjoy the healthy dish they created.
