SHIPPENSBURG- The Department of Social Work and Gerontology sponsored a lecture on older adults and substance abuse, which took place Thursday, March 29.
Shippensburg Alum Kristen Varner ’00,RASE Project director of Carlisle programs, training and advocacy, spoke about the importances and difficulties people face with this serious issue. She talked about the RASE project, which facilitates educational trainings.
The event was available to all Shippensburg students as well as faculty.
I got the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Bourassa, Associate Professor and Director of Gerontology, and asked her about the importance of bringing a speaker like this to the University.
